Melting Polar Bear Ice Sculpture In London And Copenhagen
A life-size ice sculpture of a polar bear can be seen in London’s Trafager Square and Nytorv Square in Copenhagen. The melting statue, complete with a bronze skeleton, is a “powerful reminder” of our melting Arctic. The bear itself is 1.8 meters high, “the same height as the thickness of the ice in the Arctic Ocean.”
English artist Mark Coreth is the man behind the sculpture, and hopes to have bears in more major cities throughout the world. ”The loss of the ice with the warming planet is going to change all that we see….not only will the bear suffer but the world as a whole,” he says.
Visitors are encouraged to touch and shape the statue, symbolic of the fact that WE are the only ones who can save our dying planet! Via Treehugger
