According to PETA, McDonald’s seriously needs to update their slaughter methods. The franchise refuses to use “controlled atmosphere killing”, a more humane form of slaughter. McDonald’s U.S. and Canadian chicken suppliers break the bones and cut the throats of the poor birds when they are usually still conscious, and “many birds are immersed in tanks of scalding-hot water while they are still alive and able to feel pain.”
